Spotlight Theatre Company's mission is dedicated to producing quality entertainment that engages, inspires, challenges, and empowers artists and audiences. Our focus is to create opportunities for community participation, celebrate diversity, and further cultivate theatre in the Rio Grande Valley
Our vision is to be a driving force in the development and growth of the arts community in the Rio Grande Valley. We envision a vibrant and thriving performing arts scene where local talent can flourish, artists can find sustainable employment, and audiences can enjoy high-quality productions that reflect the rich diversity and cultural heritage of the region. By fostering creativity, collaboration, and artistic excellence, we aim to create a lasting impact and contribute to the overall cultural landscape of the Rio Grande Valley
Vision
OUR STORY
Spotlight Theatre Company is an up and coming non-profit community theatre in the Rio Grande Valley. Spotlight Theatre Company was founded in the summer of 2021 by Sabrina & Selina Soto. Sisters who have gave their lives to cultivating the art form of live theatre. Having always believed that theatre was more than an extracurricular or hobby, the Soto Sisters aim to unite communities in order to create live innovative work that is a celebration of the performing arts.
Lucy the Light
Sabrina and Selina Soto, founders, believe that if you give light people will find their way . They hope to be able to shine a light and show people new ways to express themselves creatively. The Soto sisters remember a time when the area was referred to as "The Magical Rio Grande Valley" because of how strong theatre was. Now they hope to contribute to the amazing magic being made down here by shining a light on the amazing talent that can be found in the RGV. Lucy is more than a symbol but instead represents the potential that is found when you put a new show on stage, with each line recited, each song sung, and each spotlight lit, you get to tell a story and impact someone in a way that no one else can. Lucy represents the magic in theatre, the potential in the RGV, and the light in us all.
